Transaction Deposits of Individuals, Partnerships and Corporations (IPC) (Domestic)

All deposits of individuals, partnerships, and corporations, wherever located, in transaction accounts (including total demand deposits). Includes deposits related to the personal, household, or family activities of both farm and nonfarm individuals and to the business activities of sole proprietorships + deposits of corporations and organizations, regardless of whether they are operated for profit + dealer reserve accounts + deposits of U.S. government agencies and instrumentalities + deposits of trust funds standing to the credit of other banks and all trust funds held or deposited in any department of the reporting bank if the beneficiary is an individual, partnership, or corporation + credit balances on credit cards and related plans as a result of customer overpayment + deposits of a federal or state court held for the benefit of individuals, partnerships, or corporations, such as bankruptcy funds and escrow funds.


Transaction Deposits of US Government Accounts (Domestic)

All deposits of federal public funds made by or for the account of the U.S. or some department, bureau, or official thereof in transaction accounts (including total demand deposits). Includes U.S. Treasury Tax and Loan Accounts, including deposits of federal income tax withheld from employee salaries, from interest and dividend payments, and from distributions or payments from pensions, annuities, and other deferred income including IRAs; social security tax deposits and other federal tax payments; and the proceeds from sales of U.S. Savings Bonds + deposits standing to the credit of certain quasi-governmental institutions when the reporting bank has been designated by the U.S. Treasury as a depository for such funds + deposits of the U.S. Postal Service and local post offices.


Transaction Deposits of States and Political Subdivision Accounts in the US (Domestic)

All deposits in transaction accounts (including total demand deposits) of public funds standing to the credit of states, counties, municipalities, and local housing authorities; school, irrigation, drainage, and reclamation districts; or other instrumentalities of one or more states of the United States, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and U.S. territories and possessions. Includes deposits of funds advanced to states and political subdivisions by U.S. government agencies and corporations and deposits of withheld income taxes of states and political subdivisions.


Transaction Deposits of Other Depository Institutions in the US (Domestic)

All deposits of depository institutions in the U.S. other than commercial banks in transaction accounts (including total demand deposits). Includes deposits of the following: building or savings and loan institutions, homestead associations, and cooperative banks; mutual and stock savings banks; and credit unions.


Transaction Deposits of Certified & Official Checks (Domestic)

Deposits in transaction accounts (including total demand deposits) of unpaid depositors' checks that have been certified + cashiers' checks, money orders, or other officers' checks issued for any purpose including those issued in payment for services, dividends, or purchases that are drawn on the reporting bank by any of its duly authorized officers and that are outstanding on the report date + outstanding travelers' checks, travelers' letters of credit, or other letters of credit sold for cash or its equivalent by the reporting bank or its agents + outstanding drafts and bills of exchange accepted by the reporting bank or its agents for money or its equivalent, including drafts accepted against a letter of credit issued for money or its equivalent + checks or drafts drawn by, or on behalf of, a non-U.S. office of the reporting bank on an account maintained at a U.S. office of the reporting bank.


Nontransaction Deposits of Individuals, Partnerships and Corporations (IPC) Accounts (Domestic)

All deposits of individuals, partnerships, and corporations, wherever located, in nontransaction accounts (including MMDAs). Includes deposits related to the personal, household, or family activities of both farm and nonfarm individuals and to the business activities of sole proprietorships + deposits of corporations and organizations, regardless of whether they are operated for profit + dealer reserve accounts + deposits of U.S. government agencies and instrumentalities + deposits of trust funds standing to the credit of other banks and all trust funds held or deposited in any department of the reporting bank if the beneficiary is an individual, partnership, or corporation + credit balances on credit cards and related plans as a result of customer overpayment + deposits of a federal or state court held for the benefit of individuals, partnerships, or corporations, such as bankruptcy funds and escrow funds.


Demand Deposits of Individuals, Partnerships and Corporations (IPC) Accounts (Domestic)

All demand deposits of individuals, partnerships, and corporations, wherever located. Includes deposits related to the personal, household, or family activities of both farm and nonfarm individuals and to the business activities of sole proprietorships + deposits of corporations and organizations, regardless of whether they are operated for profit + dealer reserve accounts + deposits of U.S. government agencies and instrumentalities + deposits of trust funds standing to the credit of other banks and all trust funds held or deposited in any department of the reporting bank if the beneficiary is an individual, partnership, or corporation + credit balances on credit cards and related plans as a result of customer overpayment + deposits of a federal or state court held for the benefit of individuals, partnerships, or corporations, such as bankruptcy funds and escrow funds.


Total Brokered Deposits (Domestic)

Total of all brokered deposits included in total deposits in domestic offices, regardless of size or the type of deposit instrument. Brokered deposits are deposits obtained by banks from middlemen (brokers) seeking insured deposits on behalf of their customers. Interest rates on brokered deposits have to be competitive with national market rates, and thus are often associated with higher interest costs of funds.


Preferred Deposits (Domestic)

All deposits of states and political subdivisions in the US, including transaction and nontransaction accounts which are secured or collateralized as required under state law.


All NOW Accounts

Interest bearing demand deposits, or negotiable order of withdrawal (NOW), were authorized by DIDMCA of 1980.


Money Market Deposit Accounts (MMDA) (Domestic)

The total amount of all money market deposit accounts (MMDAs) that are included in deposits in domestic offices in nontransaction accounts. MMDAs have no restrictions and allow customers to make 6 transactions per month. Only three per month can be made by check.


Other Savings Deposits (Passbook) (Domestic)

The total amount of all savings deposits (excluding MMDAs) included in deposits in domestic offices in nontransaction accounts. Includes deposits or accounts subject to telephone or preauthorized transfer where the depositor is not permitted or authorized to make more than 3 withdrawals per month or statement cycle for purposes of transferring funds to another account of the depositor in the same institution or for making a payment to a third party by means of preauthorized or telephonic agreement, order, or instruction + savings deposits subject to no more than three transfers per month for purposes of covering overdrafts + all other savings deposits, such as passbook savings accounts.


Time Certificates of Deposit (CDs) of $100,000 or More (Domestic)

All time certificates of deposit included in deposits in domestic offices in nontransaction accounts with balances of $100,000 or more, regardless of negotiability or transferability. Includes brokered deposits issued to brokers or dealers in the form of large ($100,000 or more) certificates of deposit, regardless of whether the underlying depositors' shares are in denominations of less than $100,000. Those time deposits originally issued in denominations of less than $100,000 that, because of interest paid or credited, or because of additional deposits, now have a balance of $100,000 or more are included as time deposits of $100,000 or more.
