My approach to academic endeavors is to develop synergies between basic methodological and substantive research that chart new directions of enquiry, teaching that builds on state-of-the-art research, and social initiatives that translate the research to specific applications for societal benefit. Such synergy between research, teaching, and social initiatives enriches all three elements.
