Meet the Officers

BobbyBobby Schuster

President

Hello, my name is Bobby Schuster and I am a junior majoring in Finance. This is my second term on the Executive Board and I am very excited to serve as your president. I look forward to growing the Finance Club and strengthening its core services. The Finance Club is a terrific organization to get involved in because it provides an entrance to full-time and intern opportunities with well-regarded companies. If you have any comments, suggestions or questions, or would like to become more involved in the Club, please feel free to email me or speak with me at one of our meetings.

President Responsibilities - The President is the primary visionary for the organization and the Chairman of the Finance Club Executive Board. He/she helps other officers and the organization as a whole grow in terms of quantity and quality. The President oversees successful execution of all of the club’s programming. He/she is the official spokesperson for the club and serves as a member of the CBA Council of Presidents. The President runs all Executive Board and general member meetings. He/she also registers the club with the university each semester, organizes Quad Day and Commerce Quad Day in the fall, and helps to arrange a Career Focus Session with Business Career Services.

Hi, my name is Chris Donovan and I’m currently a junior majoring in Finance. This will be my second year serving on the Executive Board. Over the past year I have seen the Finance Club grow and attract more students from all different backgrounds and majors. Each of you have different career aspirations, so it is my goal to invite reputable companies from various segments of the financial world. This will help you gain more exposure to different companies and learn more about the internship and full-time opportunities available within these companies. External Vice President Responsibilities - The External VP is responsible for all company and speaker recruitment. He/she researches Finance and other related companies/divisions and contacts these companies concerning speaking for the Finance Club. The External VP is the bridge between the club and the speakers, taking any company requests; confirming presentation dates, times, and locations; and writing thank-you letters following presentations. He/she works with the Webmaster to develop a database to store contact information.

Hi, my name is Kurt Erbach and I'm currently pursuing a bachelors degree in Economics and minors in Business and Mathematics. This is my second year on the executive board of the Finance Club. Over the previous year I served as the Job-Placement VP in order to benefit the members of the club. The challenges and duties of the Internal Vice President position keeps me invested in the current members and alumni of the club as well. I find the most rewarding work to be in service to others. In performing the duties of this position, organizing the 2008 Winter Business Career-Fair, scheduling educational field trips, and managing the Alumni Relations Committee, I will be able to make sure the Finance Club is equally valuable to every member. Internal Vice President Responsibilities - The Internal Vice President works on a committee with other undergraduates organizing the Spring Career Fair. He/she organizes at least one field trip each semester. The Internal VP also leads the Alumni Relations Committee, a committee designed to keep the club in contact with Finance Club Alumni. He/she finally promotes the club through organizing on campus activities such as philanthropy, charity, or other events.

Hello, my name is Matt Leytman and I am a senior majoring in Accounting and minoring in Political Science. I am originally from the Chicagoland suburb of Glenview, Illinois. This is my second term serving on the Finance Club executive board. As Treasurer, I manage the club's accounts, income and expenses. This semester I hope to improve improve the efficiency of the position and have a lot of fun. As always, I encourage everyone to make use of their finance club membership and participate in our activities. I am looking forward to a great and successful semester. Treasurer Responsibilities - The Treasurer is responsible for all club income and expenses, including collection of dues and club operating expenses. He/she draws up a budget for the year and maintains coherence to the budget. The Treasurer must take care of a club and University checking account. He/she will also attend a treasurer's workshop explaining University policies and other important account information (i.e. applying for SORF funds.)

Hey, my name is Kelly Ogle. I am a sophomore in the College of Business, majoring in Finance. I am from Frankfort, which is a southwest suburb of Chicago. This will be my second semester with Finance Club and my first semester on the executive board and I'm really excited. As secretary, I will be sure to stay organized with all the responsibilities that my position entails and do my best to provide all participants of Finance Club with a better preparation for a career in Finance. Secretary Responsibilities - The Secretary creates a biweekly newsletter outlining current and future Finance Club activities, to be distributed at general meetings. He/she is responsible for sending intelligent, well-written, informative emails to the Webmaster to be sent to the entire club. The secretary works with the webmaster to develop a membership database and then enters all member information into that database. He/she sets out at each meeting a sign-in sheet for people who would like to be added to the Finance Club email list.

Public Relations Vice President

Hi, my name is Sarah McGinniss, and I am a sophomore majoring in Consumer Economics and Finance. This is my fourth semester in Finance Club, and my first year on the Executive Board. I am excited to serve as the Public Relations Vice President for this organization. I will be responsible for advertising the company presentations and all professional/service events throughout the year. Also, I will be leading a Public Relations committee that will assist me on a weekly basis in promoting events. I look forward to improving our membership every week by advertising to not only the currently active members, but also those interested in joining. Make sure to look out for the advertisements in your classes, bulletin boards, and on the quad. If you have any questions or are interested in joining the Public Relations Committee, please contact me by email or after one of our weekly meetings.

Public Relations Vice President Responsibilities - As a member of the executive board, public relations vice president publicizes all corporate presentations and other organizational activities taking place through overhead projections, flyers, newspaper ads, chalking the quad, and updating the club’s bulletin board that’s displayed in Wohlers Hall. Communication is a key component to being the public relations vice president; along with understanding others expectations and ideas. Having the ability to translate those ideas into the marketplace is also a necessary task of the public relations vice president.

Hello, my name is Alex Podkanska and I am a sophomore majoring in Finance with a minor in Spanish. This is my second semester as an active member of the Finance Club, and my first semester on the Executive Board. As the Job Placement Vice President, I plan to enhance the Finance Club's reputation within the corporate world in order to create opportunities for each member of our Club to advance. I look forward to working with members to enhance their resumes, as well as organizing the Mock Interview sessions to better prepare members to impress potentialemployers. Job Placement Vice President Responsibilities - The Job Placement VP is responsible for developing the Finance Club Resume Book. He/she must keep an updated list of company contacts to which the Resume Books can be sent. The Job Placement VP also arranges office visits for selected candidates in the Finance Club’s Student Futures Program.

Hi, my name is Scott Schultz, and I am a junior from Shorewood , Illinois , majoring in Finance and Accounting. I have been a member of the Finance Club since my freshman year, and I am excited to serve you as one of the Mentoring Vice Presidents. This is my first term as a member of the executive board. As Mentoring VP, I will be charge of coordinating tutoring for FIN 221 and FIN 300. I will also be running the UISES stock market simulation. Hello, my name is Andrew Lee and I am a Sophomore planning to major in Finance and Accounting. I am originally from Urbana, Illinois but spent 12 years growing up in Singapore. This is my first term serving on the Finance Club executive board. As Vice President of Mentoring, I collaborate with local high schools to bring college students to perform mock trading sessions in the classrooms, simulating trading pits not unlike those of the New York Stock Exchange. Feel free to join us for these sessions and definitely become more involved in the Finance Club. I am looking forward to a fun and successful semester. Mentoring Vice President Responsibilities - The Mentoring VP is responsible for coordinating visits to local area high schools and conducting mock trading sessions. Duties include contacting local area high schools, scheduling, and conducting the trade sessions themselves (with assistance from other Finance Club members). He/she also manages on-campus tutoring for registered Finance Club members. The Mentoring VP finally arranges Finance Club member participation in the online trading simulation UISES, University of Illinois Securities Exchange Simulation.

Bobby Sasha Kharkevitch

Hello, my name is Sasha Kharkevitch and I am a sophmore majoring in Agricultural Finance. This is my second semester as an active member of the finance club and my first semester on the executive board. I am very excited to take on the role of social vice president. I will be in charge of making sure we have a successful etiquette dinner and workshop, as well as, most importantly, making sure finance club members have a lot of fun and get to enjoy the experience of being a member. Social Vice President Responsibilities - The Social VP organizes and coordinates at least three social functions for Finance Club members each semester. He/she also arranges an etiquette dinner each semester. The Social VP orders food and drinks for all general and Executive Board meetings and brings napkins, appropriate utensils, and plates. He/she finally books all dinner reservations with visiting corporate speakers and representatives.

Hi guys. I'm Naveen Iyer and I'm from the northwest suburb of Buffalo Grove. This is my first time serving on the executive board and I've been a member of Finance Club since my freshman year. As webmaster, I will keep you up to date with all the events and activities of Finance Club through the weekly newsletters and the website. If you have any questions about the website or the newsletter emails, please feel free to contact me.

Webmaster Responsibilities - The Webmaster updates the Finance Club website in a timely fashion for convenient usage. He/she maintains the club’s email list and sends the biweekly mass emails written by the Secretary. The Webmaster forwards any email inquiries to the appropriate officers. He/she also works with other Executive Board members to create necessary databases for member information, company contacts and speakers, etc.

I was the former President of the Finance Club. My role as advisor is to serve as a resource to the current board for advice and any other necessary support. The Finance Club is a premier organization in the College of Business and I'm proud to have been been a part of it since my freshman year.
