Re-Entry
Re-Entry after being Dropped
Students dropped from the College of Business are not automatically eligible for Re-Entry. Dropped students must petition the Business Admission Committee to be considered for re-entry. The process is as follows:
- Contact the College of Business, Office of Undergraduate Affairs at 217-333-2740 to request a Re-entry Petition Form.
- Complete the petition form (including the personal statement) and submit the completed forms to the Office of Undergraduate Affairs. Please note the due dates and address on the form.
- The Business Admissions Committee will render a decision. A personal interview may be required.
Re-Entry after a Withdrawal, Cancellation or Leave of Absence
College of Business students who Withdraw, Cancel or chose a Leave of Absence are automatically eligible for re-entry into the College and curriculum they were previously enrolled under two conditions:
- The student is in good standing with the College of Business and UIUC
- The student's Final Authorized Term has not expired. Students are allowed 9 semesters to complete the Business degree.
Note: A student who was on probation will continue to be on probation when they re-enter.
If a student meets the conditions for automatic Re-Entry but have been absent for more than one semester (not including Summer Sessions), the student must contact a Records Officer in the Office of Undergraduate Affairs at 217-333-2740 in order to reactivate their account and be assigned a registration date and time.
Repeating A Course
Students who elect to repeat a course should note that both the original course grade and repeated course grade are included in their Grade Point Average (GPA) but the credits for the course are counted only once.
- If a failed course is repeated, credit will be awarded upon successful completion of the second attempt of the course, but both grades are included in the grade point average (GPA).
- If a successfully completed course is repeated, credit will not be given for the second time; however, both grades are included in the grade point average (GPA).
Transferring Out of the College
Students who wish to transfer from the College of Business into another UIUC College should first research and obtain the transfer guidelines from the college or department to which they wish to transfer.
Once a student has applied to transfer into another UIUC College and are accepted, their new college will process and change the student's degree program. Approval from Business is not required and it is not necessary to notify Business that you are transferring to another UIUC College.
Note: Each College at UIUC has different rules and timelines for applying to transfer into their programs.
