The
Bureau of Economic and Business Research (BEBR or Office of Research)
has served the College of Business and the state of Illinois for
over sixty years with research and outreach programs focusing on
the U.S. and state economies. Applied research, economic forecasting,
database management, and the dissemination of research findings
are among the Bureau's chief activities.
Mission
Statement: The primary mission of the Bureau of Economic and Business
Research is to foster research by the College of Business faculty
and graduate students and to disseminate research results to a national
and international audience.
In
support of this mission, the office engages in a variety of activities,
including production and distribution of faculty working papers,
and publication/editorial management of research-related journals.
BEBR
coordinates and supports the activities of the college Research
and Learning Centers by providing administrative services, financial
support and management, and research assistance.
Primary
Functions :
Research-related
funding. BEBR offers an annual spring competition for ¼-time
research assistants for the summer. Faculty members submit applications
and the Research Policy Committee selects the recipients. BEBR also
coordinates the annual Irwin Fellowship and the Ferber Award.
Coordination
of data resources for research. BEBR subscribes to the following
Wharton Research Data Services on behalf of the faculty and graduate
students. This subscription is billed to the departments
on an annual basis for faculty WRDS accounts. There is no charge
for College of Business Grad Student WRDS accounts, however there
is a $500 annual charge for grad students located outside the College
