The Bureau of Economic and Business Research (BEBR) has served the College of Business and the state of Illinois for over sixty years with research and outreach programs focusing on the U.S. and state economies. Applied research, economic forecasting, database management, and the dissemination of research findings are among the Bureau's chief activities.

• Research. BEBR staff conduct applied research on issues related to the state economy. Recent projects include a longitudinal study of the economic and demographic effects on a small community of the closure of a military installation.
• Economic Forecasting. BEBR maintains an econometric model to forecast trends in the Illinois economy and the state's fiscal position. By offering new insights into the state's fiscal and economic performance, the forecasts can serve as the basis for short- and medium-range planning for business and government.
• Publications and Data. The Bureau disseminates research results, economic forecasts, and state-level statistics through its publications, which include the Results and the Illinois Statistical Abstract. BEBR also maintains economic, financial, health care, and other data for use by faculty, students, and business and government policy makers.
• Speakers' Bureau. The BEBR Speakers' Bureau provides speakers and panelists for business and economic seminars and conferences throughout the state.

BEBR and the Business Community

The success of BEBR and its programs depends on the involvement and support of the business community. The BEBR Affiliates Program enables business leaders to become involved both personally and financially in BEBR and its activities. BEBR Affiliates contribute toward:
