Curriculum

Eight courses totaling over 425 contact hours address major tax issues relating to a broad range of disciplines, including:

  • Corporations
  • Partnerships
  • Multiple jurisdictions
  • Economics
  • Finance

Classmates learn in teams and through case and project-based techniques. A speaker series and professional workshops bring students and practitioners together to discuss and debate timely concerns in industry, government and the tax profession.

Courses are arranged in a modular format that moves students logically through a progression of advanced tax curriculum. The program has no electives, and is delivered in a lock-step manner to optimize learning within an aggressive schedule. The coursework is rigorous and requires students to demonstrate exceptional concentration and intellect in balancing the demands of the program with those at work and at home.

The Program leverages the Project Discovery accountancy curriculum invented at ILLINOIS, which continues to garner accolades for its inventive approach to ingraining a strategic perspective in the thinking of graduate and undergraduate students.

"Because class discussions incorporate real world experience from rising tax professionals, we consistently discover innovative approaches to addressing emerging challenges in the field of tax. This gives ILLINOIS students a strategic perspective and a competitive advantage."

—Clif Brown, Professor in Accountancy
