Apply to the Illinois MSF - Details
Complete an online application for summer term
(registration required)
Note: the MSF begins in June; there is no fall entry.
The University of Illinois uses a single online application for all graduate programs, therefore not all information asked on the application is relevant to the MSF program. Before you complete the online application, please note the following:
- After completing the online application, please follow the steps on the MSF application page and send all supporting documentation to the MSF program office.
- Your online application will be forwarded electronically from the University Office of Admissions to the MSF Program office. Our office will acknowledge receipt of your application by email and provide you with a login/password so that you can track the status of your application.
- The MSF program is a self-supported graduate program within the Finance Department in the Business College. The program does not provide financial aid, fellowships or scholarships to program participants.

Pay application fee ($60 domestic/$75 international)
The University of Illinois application fee is $60 for domestic students and $75 for international students. The fee can be paid by credit card when you submit your online application. If you do now wish to pay by credit card, you can mail the application fee directly to the MSF program office. Be sure to mail the check with other supporting documents or be sure to attach a note that clearly indicates your name, address and birth date. With so many applications, it is not uncommon for the program to receive multiple applications from people with the same name.
Provide certified transcripts and degree certificates
Official transcripts of all undergraduate and graduate schools you have attended must be provided to the University along with official degree certificates. If the date and degree conferred are included on the transcript, no degree certificate is needed. Original or certified transcripts, and degree certificates (if needed) must be provided before formal admission can be given.
Official transcripts should be received by the MSF program in a sealed envelope provided directly from the issuing academic institution. These records must indicate all subjects studied, all grades or examination results received in each subject (whether passed or failed), and all degrees and diplomas earned. If your transcript does not indicate the degree earned and the conferred date, a certified copy of your degree certificate must be provided.
If your academic transcripts and degree certificate are not in English, they must be accompanied by an official English translation. Credentials must be certified by an officer of the educational institution issuing the documents or by an official employed by the US Embassy or Consulate. Where possible, you should request the principal or registrar of the institution to forward your credentials to the U of Illinois for you.
Provide official GMAT or GRE scores
MSF applicants are required to submit a GMAT or GRE test score. All current and previous results must be reported to the University of Illinois electronically.
