The Illinois MSF program - completed in twelve months - is an intense, immersive

The program provides an innovative curriculum of sophisticated courses that builds a strong foundation in the principles and practices of finance and introduces emerging concepts, practices, and technology used in the finance industry.

The four year degree degree program offers students the opportunity of specializing in

Finance Academy
The Finance Academy is an enrichment program for outstanding undergraduate
Finance majors. The Finance Academy is a select program which focuses on
developing future business leaders via enhanced academic and career
opportunities. Students are normally invited to participate by the
faculty during their junior year, when they are enrolled in Fin 300. If
inducted they participate throughout their junior and senior years.
Real Client managed Portfolio
The Real Client Managed Portfolio class is responsible for the management of a
substantial sum of money to be invested in equities. Students are responsible
to the fiduciary and ethical standards of professional money management as
guided by the CFA Institute. This course will allow students to apply the
knowledge gained from prerequisite investment courses and their experience in
managing a simulated portfolio with UISES to the task of managing real money
for real clients.

VideoEssay Contest for the YouTube Generation
The Department of Finance, in partnership with the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, is presenting the Video Essay Contest. There are two categories, one for High School Students and one for University Students. The first prize in each category is a scholarship of $5,000.

Investment Banking: Bravery Facing the Bear
There's been a lot of talk about the bear market. In order to help understand its complexities and our fears in dealing with it, the College of Business hosted a Finance Roundtable on April 9th. The session, sponsored by PricewaterhouseCoopers, featured a panel of experts, all of whom are alumni.

Deep Dive Workshop: High Performance 401K and Pension Plans
On March 27th, Dr. Scott Weisbenner helped alumni dive into knowledge about participant choices in pension plans. Weisbenner, assistant professor in the Department of Finance, was the speaker for the Deep Dive Workshop, part of the Roundtable series sponsored by PricewaterhouseCoopers.
