Biographical Sketch

Dilip Chhajed is a professor and  director of the M.S. in Technology Management program. He earned his B. Tech. in chemical engineering from IIT, Mumbai, India; an M.S. from the University of Texas in Dallas; and Ph. D. from Purdue University.

His current research and teaching interests are in operations management with focus on two main areas: supply chain design and product/process design. Of particular interest to him is studying problems that span the interface between operations management and marketing. He has published in journals such as Management Science, Operations Research, Naval Research Quarterly, IIE Transactions, Decision Sciences, Journal of Operations Management, European Journal of Operational Research, and Journal of Product Innovation Management. He is associate editor of INFOR and e-Locator and on the editorial boards of M&SOM and International Journal of Operations, and Quantitative Management.

Professor Chhajed teaches in the MBA and the Executive MBA programs. He has taught in the Executive MBA programs at the University of Warsaw, Poland; Purdue University; and GISMA in Hanover, Germany. He also teaches in the MS-Tech program. He was on the university’s Incomplete List of Excellent Teachers in Spring 2001 and received the Executive Educator of the Year award in 2000. In spring 1988, he was Faculty-in-Residence at Caterpillar Logistics Services.
