Joseph Finnerty
Professor of Finance
Joseph E. Finnerty is a professor in the
Department of Finance at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
He received his and MBA and Ph.D. from the University of Michigan.
After ten years at the University of Massachusetts he joined
the Illinois faculty in 1984 and has served as associate dean
for graduate programs, assistant dean for planning, and academic
director of the MBA program as well as teaching courses on
financial intermediaries, management of financial institutions,
international financial management, financial markets, and
international financial markets. He was awarded the Commerce
Alumni Association Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching Award
in 1991 and the MBA Association, Professor of the Year Award,
1990-91.
He has also been a visiting professor of economics at Harvard
University a number of times since 1990, a visiting professor
of finance, Krems MBA for Central Europe from1992-present
a Fulbright scholar at the National Institute for Higher Education,
Dublin, Ireland, 1988-89. Listed in Who's Who In Finance and
Industry, 1991 and 1993.
Professor Finnerty has published in such journals as Review
of Quantitative Finance and Accounting, Advances
in International Banking and Finance, Advances in
Pacific Basin Financial Markets, Journal of International
Money and Finance, International Journal of Development
Banking, and Advances in Investment Analysis and
Portfolio Management.
