The Technology and Management Club is an organization that seeks to understand ways that technology has been integrated into all aspects of business management, from streamlining transactions to perfect information and records. It is the fundamental shift in management away from the people-orientation that we seek to understand. To do this, we plan to design and implement projects that will give our members first-hand experience of these amazing new management techniques.
The Technology & Management Club began as the e-Commerce Club, during the fall of 1999--nearly the peak of the dot-com gold rush. e-Commerce was a buzzword that seemed to have a lot of potential, but when push came to shove, it had little to offer that hadn't already been around for decades. Following the dot-com implosion, we came to realize that this club could no longer function with the same goals as it had previously, and needed a fundamental change. Over the past semester, we have been working to come up with the goals that would give members the greatest benefit. The result is the Technology & Management Club at the University of Illinois.
