Résumés, Interviews & More
Résumés
Your résumé is a one-page advertisement of why an employer should hire you. Spend time preparing your résumé and have it reviewed by several different people. Take advantage of résumé critiques from both BCS Advisers and employers and be sure to check the calendar for related workshops.

Cover Letters
A well-written cover letter is often the first opportunity you have to communicate with a potential employer. Cover letters are not necessary for Career Fairs and most Symplicity submissions (unless requested). As with your résumé, take time to carefully prepare and proofread your cover letter and customize it for the position for which you are applying.

Interviews
Interviews are critical to the hiring process. The impression you make in the first few minutes can determine if you will get an opportunity for a second interview or even an offer. There are basically three steps to the interview process: the before, during, and after. Although there are no guarantees with interviewing, there are things you can do to increase your chances of success.

Offers
A company may offer you the position in writing, over the phone, or in person. If you are interested in the position, you may accept immediately. However, you may want to take some time to consider the offer. Meet with a BCS Adviser to review and discuss your offer. Remember both verbal and written commitments must be honored, reneging is never acceptable.
