Research
Areas of Concentration:
Information Systems
The Information Systems Faculty work hard to build a solid research reputation. Our tradition of interdisciplinary research continues to be recognized in academia, the business world, and prospective students all over the world. We believe that excellence in research contributes directly to our teaching strengths, benefits the businesses who look to us for inventive assessment of their problems, and maintains the stimulating community that attracts the best faculty and students.
As a cornerstone of this effort, we take part in the Center for IT and e-Business Management, one of the research and learning centers of the College of Commerce and Business Administration at UIUC. The Center received one of the Critical Research Initiatives (CRI) grants from the University of Illinois. Bringing together facilities and researchers in the fields of business administration, economics, accounting, finance, computer science, psychology, and engineering, CITEBM is aimed at developing new managerial insights that will lead to effective business systems, strategies, processes, and models for commerce and business administration.

Management Science
The faculty members in this area are conducting active research to broaden our understanding of decision-making and value-creating processes. Economic value is created, and productivity is achieved when human and physical resources are put into the best use, the incentives of individuals and groups are well aligned, and the material and information flows are coordinated. To this end, our research effort is wide-ranging in:
- Supply Chain Management
- Technology Management
- Product Design and Development
- Auctioning Theory
- Decision Economics
- Network Optimization
If you are intrigued by any of these topics, or by the general theories of decision-making and productive processes, you will find the right faculty members in this area with the same keen interest to talk to!
