Master of Science in Accountancy (MSA)

The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign has consistently ranked among the top accountancy departments in the United States. Business Week, U.S. News & World Report, and Public Accounting Report have rated both the undergraduate and graduate accounting programs among the best in the United States.

The Master of Science in Accountancy (MSA) is a 12-month graduate degree program for students who wish to prepare for a career in accounting. The traditional program track is structured for individuals who have a business-related undergraduate degree but little previous study or experience in accounting. An advanced accounting option is available to non-U.S. accountants who wish to acquire an in-depth understanding of U.S. accounting concepts and practices.

The MSA program provides the academic prerequisites for candidates who wish to take the United States Uniform Certified Public Accountant (CPA) examination, the Certified Management Accountant (CMA) examination and the Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) examination. Graduates of the MSA program have had notable success in passing these examinations, particularly the CPA examination.
