Master of Science in Accountancy (MSA)

The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign has consistently ranked among the top accountancy departments in the United States. Business Week, U.S. News & World Report, and Public Accounting Report have rated both the undergraduate and graduate accounting programs among the best in the United States.

The M.S. in Accountancy (MSA) program is a one-year program designed to meet the professional accounting career-development needs of individuals with accountancy backgrounds that vary from a limited to a stronger background. The MSA program is appropriate for persons with non-accountancy undergraduate degrees from domestic and international universities and those with accountancy undergraduate degrees from international universities. MSA course work is customized to reflect educational and career backgrounds, as well as educational and career objectives. Individuals with an undergraduate degree in accountancy from a U.S. institution should apply to the Master of Accounting Science (MAS) program.

The MSA program provides the academic prerequisites for candidates who wish to take the United States Uniform Certified Public Accountant (CPA) examination, the Certified Management Accountant (CMA) examination and the Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) examination. Graduates of the MSA program have had notable success in passing these examinations, particularly the CPA examination.
