Tax Uncertainty and Economic Conditions
CALL FOR PAPERS
The Eleventh Illinois Symposium on Tax Research sponsored by the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and the Deloitte Foundation will be held on Friday, October 2, 2009 (reception on Thursday, October 1) in Chicago, Illinois. The goal of the conference is to bring together scholars, practitioners, and regulators working on current issues in taxation. The topic for this year’s conference is Tax Uncertainty, which has become a timely topic in the current economic environment.
TOPICS:
The Symposium organizers encourage submission of theoretical, empirical, and experimental studies, as well as suggestions from practitioners and regulators, on the broad topic of Tax Uncertainty. Relevant topics include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Understanding, identifying, and measuring tax uncertainty.
- Tax uncertainty in a changing tax, regulatory, and fiscal environment.
- Impact of profit shrinkage in a recession on tax uncertainty.
- Economic recovery horizon and uncertain tax positions.
- Corporation and auditor responses to tax uncertainty.
- The evolving duties of tax administrators in an uncertain economic environment.
- The informativeness of tax uncertainty to investors and financial regulators.
PAPER AND IDEA SUBMISSION PROCEDURE:
The deadline for paper submissions and suggestions on specific discussion topics is June 1, 2009. Selections will be completed by July 15, 2009. To submit a paper or idea for consideration, please email a PDF or MS Word version to:
